Newly appointed Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s government has increased the petroleum prices by up to Rs20.
Here’s the official statement from the Ministry of Finance: “Petroleum prices in the international market have increased during the last fortnight. As a result the consumer prices in Pakistan are also being revised”
Here’s the table with old and new prices of petroleum items with a total change in prices.

As the rising inflation has already affected most Pakistanis and a further increase in petroleum prices will increase the prices of many items including basic food items.
Previously the former Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government had announced a massive Rs19 per liter increase in the price of petrol and diesel, which it said was done amid rising global oil prices.
The announcement was to be made on July 31, but the government did not issue new rates as they tried to maintain or reduce the rates.
Pakistan has been badly hit by inflation and whenever Government increases prices they give a brief explanation for that price hike. Already People in Pakistan are facing many difficulties and this petroleum price hike will put more financial pressure on the average Pakistani.
